Calculator inputs
Calculator values are processed in your browser to display results. Lumber Tally does not require an account and does not intentionally transmit the dimensions, quantities, prices, clearances, or other project values you enter. Most calculator values clear when the page is closed or reloaded unless your browser preserves page state.
The Lumberyard Tally Calculator offers an optional “Save on this device” control. If you choose it, the board list and related price settings are stored in that browser's local storage so the list can be restored on the same device. The saved list is not uploaded to a Lumber Tally project database. You can remove it by clearing this site's browser data; private-browsing sessions and browser cleanup settings may remove it automatically.
Hosting and technical logs
Our hosting provider may process standard request data such as IP address, browser type, device information, requested page, referring page, and timestamps. These technical logs may be used to deliver the site, maintain reliability, investigate errors, prevent abuse, and protect the service. We do not use these logs to create woodworking profiles about individual visitors.
Cookies and similar technologies
The core calculators do not need advertising cookies to perform their math. A browser, hosting provider, security service, analytics provider, or advertising partner may nevertheless use cookies, local storage, pixels, web beacons, IP addresses, or similar identifiers for functions such as security, traffic measurement, fraud prevention, frequency capping, and ad delivery. A cookie is a small piece of data stored by a browser; a web beacon or pixel is a small request that can record that a page or message was viewed.
Third-party advertising, including Google
If Google AdSense or another advertising service is enabled, third-party vendors and ad networks may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve, personalize, limit, and measure advertisements on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on a visitor's visit to this site and, where permitted, visits to other sites. Advertising partners may receive technical information such as IP address, browser or device type, approximate location derived from IP address, ad interactions, and page context.
Visitors can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at Google's partner sites policy. Where available, visitors may manage ad personalization through My Ad Center. Other advertising vendors may provide their own opt-out mechanisms and privacy notices. Lumber Tally will update this policy and identify material vendors when advertising is activated.
Analytics
If privacy-respecting traffic analytics are enabled, they may measure page views, referring sources, general device information, and approximate region so we can understand which calculators are useful and identify broken pages. We will not intentionally send names, email addresses, phone numbers, calculator inputs, or other directly identifying information in analytics event names, URLs, or advertising requests.
Consent for visitors in regulated regions
Before serving personalized advertising or accessing non-essential storage where consent is legally required, Lumber Tally will present an appropriate consent choice. For visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, any Google advertising implementation will use a Google-certified consent management platform and will provide options required by Google's consent policies. Until advertising or non-essential analytics is enabled, the site does not display a cosmetic consent banner that would imply choices about technologies that are not in use.
Location and sensitive information
Lumber Tally does not request precise device location and does not ask visitors to provide health, religious, political, financial, or other sensitive profile information. Approximate region may be inferred from an IP address by infrastructure or advertising providers. We do not build audiences from sensitive categories, and calculator inputs are not used for interest-based advertising.
External links
Policy and educational pages may link to external websites. Those sites control their own content, cookies, and data practices. Opening an external link does not give Lumber Tally access to an account you may hold with that provider.
Your choices
You can delete or block cookies through your browser and, when advertising is active, through the consent controls shown on the site. Disabling non-essential storage may affect measurement or ad personalization but will not prevent the calculators from performing their core math. Browser privacy settings, content blockers, and the controls offered by an advertising vendor may provide additional choices.
Children
This site is written for people planning woodworking and home-improvement projects and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account, comment area, or project-upload feature because those features are not offered.
Contact
Questions about this policy or the site's data practices can be sent to zhoudan5734@gmail.com. Please do not include passwords, payment information, or other sensitive information in an email. Additional guidance is available on the Contact page.
Data retention and requests
Lumber Tally does not maintain visitor accounts or a database of calculator projects. Infrastructure providers may retain security and request logs for periods determined by their operational and legal requirements. If analytics or advertising is enabled, those providers may maintain records under their own retention settings and policies. A privacy request should identify the relevant page, approximate date, and the nature of the request; we may need enough information to understand the request but will not ask for unrelated sensitive documents.
Updates
This policy will be updated when data practices, vendors, advertising status, consent tools, or contact details change. Material changes will be reflected by the effective date below.
Effective date: July 27, 2026.
